Two New Additions to the "Family"

I have always had a fascination with the Mexican celebration of Day of the Dead and the skeleton figurines. I have found some of the most unusual pieces created by artists in central Mexico. I recently acquired a new piece, a mermaid, which I am thrilled to now own. She is so fragile and delicate, but sits high on my mantle away from the cats!

Our other addition was given to me and my husband from a friend I have had since 6th grade. It was an award at her Halloween party for coming the farthest to attend. She knows that my husband and I love to ride and we came as what else, bikers! I'd have to say that this is Jeff's favorite between the two new additions!

Awesome mermaid Lorraine! I have a Catrina collection that I absolutely love so I can appreciate that she's probably extremely delicate. Very cool!

Lorraine, I learn something new and different about you all the time -- imagine you -- a biker! Who'da thunk? LOL. I love the mermaid. If I had another spare spot in my house, I'd collect these Day of the Dead sculptures, too. I am always facinated by them in Mexico. I'd like to see your collection.

Dear Lorraine,

Thanks for your comment on my blog. I feel like I know you already, and that we have been in some of the same places (especially when reading your sidebar links). I read through your posts and I had already been to your evoke website, although I don't know when. Your jewelry and artwork is beautiful, even the paintings you did as a child. I love your cat, skeletons and your mother. Oh to have such a mother is wonderful. Also, I know Lois. She is a member of my Silver Clay Guild up here in the S.F. Bay area where I live. Are you the one with your arm around her in the red nose photo in France?

Classes from Susan Lenart Kazmer?
Been to Artfest?

I am Milk Chocolate! Ha! I had to include that!

I love the bracelets with colored tin pieces. Very precise work.

Nice to meet you.
