A Young Painter

I spent an evening with my Mother about a month ago, looking through old photographs and a variety of items she had saved from when my Sisters and I were kids. Mom is a pack rat and has never been able to part with anything that had any sentimental value to her. We had some really great laughs and it was a very special evening for me. We came across these paintings I had made while I was probably around 10 or 11. My Mom was always putting me in art classes and art camps. I could never figure it out why I had to go to art camps and my Sisters were off to ride horses...but after all these years, I realized that my Mom saw something in me that she wanted to nurture and I will forever be thankful for that...

Whoa! Precocious little 10 or 11 year old, weren't you? These are super. Look at that perspective -- some of us would die for that talent right now! Thanks for this post. I enjoyed your trip down memory lane.

You painted these when you were only 10 or 11?? Wow!! You're a natural & it shows in your work. Your Mom was right, and I'm glad she kept those paintings-what a treat for you to see them again!

I've known you for so many years and had never known this artistic side of you that has REALLY EMERGED since you were able to leave the grind of a "9-5" (I say that loosely, because you worked a LOT!) I am so thrilled to see you be so passionate about this interest you have. It's also wild that you have never really worn jewelry that I can recall..and now you DESIGN FABULOUS pieces!! Amazing, Lorraine...just amazing.
Love ya,
Lis
